Richard L. Marquez was born and raised in Overland Park, Kansas. He was admitted to practice in the State of Kansas in 1987. Following admission to the Kansas bar, he served as a Judge Advocate General in the United State’s Army Judge Advocate General’s Corps. He served on active duty for three years and another four years as a reserve officer. During his initial active duty assignment, he was assigned to the “Trial Defense Service” section of the “JAG Corps”.
All duties consisted of providing representation to service members charged with violations of the Uniform Code of Military Justice as well as Article 15’s and administrative separation boards. This assignment involved extensive trial/litigation experiences for all levels of crimes, including the civilian equivalent of misdemeanor and/or felony charges.
Following departure from the “JAG Corps”, Mr. Marquez returned to Overland Park, Kansas where he practiced with the law firm of Wallace, Saunders, Austin, Brown & Enochs. In 1993, he moved his wife and young family to Garden City, Kansas where he has resided continuously to date. Mr. Marquez has been married in excess of 31 years. They have three children.
Mr. Marquez’s practice is centered around those areas that individuals unfortunately encounter in their lives due to bad personal or business decisions or a series or circumstances and situations which frankly are usually beyond their control.
Representation consists of the practice of law consisting of insurance defense, criminal defense, administrative law, workers’ compensation, real estate matters, simple estate planning and will preparation, estate matters, domestic/family law representation, business litigation and a practice that heavily consists of individuals involved in automobile accidents, premises liability, tracking accidents, medical negligence and products liability in state and federal courts.
Mr. Marquez has represented individuals who have been victims of industrial accidents, traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, wrongful deaths, amputations, vision loss as well as a myriad of other injuries involving significant personal injuries.
He has been a partner in the law firm of Lindner, Marquez & Koksal, Garden City, Kansas since 1994.
Mr. Marquez has represented clients in Kansas, Colorado, Oklahoma, Texas and New Mexico.
